Announcement: Viper Week Isn’t Happening This Year

Given the title, you can already tell this isn’t exactly good news…

Yeah, this isn’t the way I was hoping to come back either. To cut to the chase: I can’t give Viper Week the due diligence I want to this year. Last year it was a “spur of the moment” idea that I tried to complete in a month. For the most part I succeeded but there were three articles and one video that didn’t get finished on time (not to mention the slightly rushed nature of it all). Shortly after that, I said to myself I’d work on Viper Week earlier so I’d have more time to implement ideas and create a more finished product. Clearly, and frustratingly, that hasn’t happened and isn’t going to happen (at least for this year).

Perhaps this isn’t the right mindset, but I’m of the opinion that if I can’t do it properly then I won’t do it at all. With last year being a rush job, my ambition for this year was (key word) a noticeably more polished product that improved upon the formula and ideas laid out last year. However, with me being way off my content routine (completely my fault), some events I’ll be recording in the very near future, events I need to finish editing currently, improvements/changes I need to make to this site, moving my merch to a new platform (I’m sure some of you noticed the Teespring stuff doesn’t work anymore), and God knows what else on my plate, I cannot create Viper Week in the manner nor time I want to. Thus why I’ve decided to make this rather sad decision.

On the bright side, and there is one, I will not be holding all of this year’s Viper Week content hostage until next year. Some of it I will be saving, yes, but just the bigger ideas. I already have some ideas for next year so it’s not entirely necessary for me to keep this year’s ideas in my back pocket until 2023, so look forward to those videos, articles, and podcasts in the coming months! Additionally, though this should go without saying, I’ll be posting Viper content as per usual until next Viper Week. I posted Viper stuff before Viper Week was a thing, and I’ve done Viper content well after it finished last year too.

Lastly, I’ll be moving Viper Week to July from now on. What week specifically I’m not sure (possibly the second), but I’ll get it sorted out. In any case, the reason for this change is because of how Colorado weather works. Things don’t start warming up here until mid-May at best, and that means Viper owners likely aren’t taking their snakes out to thaw until June. This makes recording any IRL Viper Week stuff here quite a challenge (and downright impossible if I left Viper Week in May). This isn’t to say IRL Viper Week stuff will forever be in Colorado (lord no), but that if there is anything of the sort here I want to do, June is my best bet to get it done. Seems like things warm up across the country during the same time frame too, so this change has national benefits as well.

I’m really sorry I came back with such a disappointing message, but a lot of y’all that follow/watch/listen/etc are Viper peeps so it only makes sense to give you the scoop on where Viper Week is (or isn’t in this case). Thank you all for the support, I’m coming back soon and working to come back in full force!
