The Podcast

The second most important thing I do (tied with writing), the Cody’s Car Conundrum podcast was starting back in March, 2016 when I was just 13 years old. Starting a podcast at such a young age means everything’s a learning process, but the podcast grew anyway! Despite being insanely young for a podcaster and certainly for an automotive commentator, people tuned in and listened to a young kid ramble about how Nissan Leafs didn’t have sufficient range, Takata needed to seek some serious help, and however I could work a Dodge Viper into the conversation.

I primarily tackled news but I did talk about a few other topics ranging from recent events like that year’s Denver Autoshow, racing any time I caught an event (which was mostly F1 thanks to a watch group I regularly attended), games, and even interviews with some people in the industry. All of which is still present today, albeit with a slight shift recently to talk about more than just news (like the recent addition of reviewing movies such as Ford v. Ferrari).

Speaking of people being interviewed on the podcast, some of the people I’ve interviewed on the podcast include Mike Bergren of Man Caves (a Colorado detailing company), Ralph Gilles (yeah, Head of Passenger Car Design at FCA Ralph Gilles), and Dana Mecum (creator of the auction bearing his last name).

Switching gears from interviews and interviewees to my personal thoughts on the podcast as a whole: I find it funny that some people in car culture are known as “that YouTube guy” or “that Resto-Mod builder” or something and here I am likely to become known as “that podcast guy!” Haha. Or, alternatively, “that kid who won’t shut up about Vipers!”

Nevertheless, hosting this podcast has been and is an incredible journey and if I have to become known for something then being known for this podcast would be a great honor. I mean, there’s certainly worse things to be known for, haha.

I mean, California has Jay leno and his show (along with Motor Trend and its various subsidiaries), The Smoking Tire, and Donut Media; The East Coast has Import Alliance, Tail Of The Dragon, and ThatDudeInBlue (AKA David Patterson); Texas is pretty popular for it’s twin turbo 1500+ horsepower monsters; And New York has the /DRIVE network. I’d like to be something Colorado car enthusiasts can be proud of other than Pikes Peak (even though that is definitely something to be proud of!) As far as I know the next biggest personalities/enthusiasts in the state are my friends over at The Fast Lane Car (a well earned spot, might I add). I’d love to be up there with them and everyone who makes some of the most highly consumed car content on the planet!

The podcast really has become a staple of my brand and I’m looking foward to seeing it grow even further in the future. Speaking of growth, let’s check out some numbers…
