The Gen 2-era Viper GTS R is arguably one of the best GT-level racecars America’s made in the last 30 years. Winning Le-Mans (in class) during the years of ’98, ’99, and ’00! Not to mention taking the overall win at Daytona in 2000. That meant beating everyone, including the prototype cars! Which in turn made the Dodge Viper GTS R only the second racecar based on a production car ever to win the Daytona 24 hours completely. Talk about kickin’ genes.
However, we’re not here today to reminisce on the GTS R’s world-conquering performance. Not from a historical context anyway. We’re here today so I can show you this video of a Chrysler Viper GTS R in the modern day gobbling up its in-period competitors during an event at Le-Mans. If you need something a little stronger than coffee to start your day, then get ready for this:
Note: The Viper you see in the video is known as C51! Learn more about it (and the GTS R in the hero image, which is C1) by checking out ViperRacingHistory.com!
